WIAW + Fun Foods Survey

Wow.

Really, that’s all that I can say in response to all of your amazing replies to my Friday post, What is Normal Anyways? If you haven’t read it yet, please check it out and consider posting the questionnaire on your own blog!

———————————————————————————-

Today is another WIAW post, my seventeenth to be exact!

First I am going to share with you some of my recent meals, and then I have another neat survey for you guys!

Breakfast

Acorn Squash.

With banana slices.

Lunch

My usual salad with chicken, grapes and cucumbers. Apple on the side.

Wait, and what is that? A coupon for pizza? Hmm… No thanks!

Snack

Cranberry Banana Ice Cream.

Two ingredients. Mixed in a food processor until creamy. Pure deliciousness.

Dinner

Half a butternut squash stuffed with chicken. Such a good combo!

Snack

Freakishly large carrots.

I found this fun food survey on Jessie Loves to Run:

What foods reminds you of your childhood? Buckwheat pancakes. I loved the wholesome taste, especially drenched in syrup.

What food brings back memories and why? As I mentioned before, my favorite breakfast growing up was cream of wheat. One of my favorite memories as a child was sitting on the kitchen counter near the stove, my dad making Cream of Wheat, and him singing what he dubbed “the cream of wheat song.”

What is your favorite baked good? Blueberry muffins.

What are the top 5 things on your grocery list? Canned chicken, squash, bananas, green beans, and protein powder.

What is your favorite version of PBJ? Honestly, if I could any kind of PBJ right now I’d be happy. However, my favorite used to be whole wheat bread with natural peanut butter and strawberry fruit spread.

What was the best thing you ate today? My lunch above.

What is the best combo of banana + ____? Banana and protein powder. Banana protein bread!!

What have you never ate, but always wanted to try? Sweet potato fries.

What flavor ice cream would you be if you were an ice cream, and the name the flavor? Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. At the base I’m vanilla. Simple. But take a bite into the cookie dough. Complexity.

What is the “prettiest” food in your opinion? Salads.

What have you not eaten in so long and want to have again!? Everything that I’m allergic to. Ha! Like bread, ice cream… or peanut butter!

If you only could have the same exact breakfast for a week what would it be? Banana protein bread. Actually, I already do have this for days straight.

And that concludes my WIAW for this week! Thanks again to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for hosting this wonderful blog party! See all of you WIAW-ers next week for Thanksgiving!!!!

What is your favorite meal from today?

Have you filled out the What is Normal Anways? survey yet?!

Answer some questions from above… Like, what ice cream flavor are you? OR What food reminds you of your childhood?

  1. That ice cream looks so good! It’s been too cold for ice cream around here lately, but maybe I need to make an exception. I’m off to freeze some bananas. 😉
Fav childhood food? Anything my grandma made for me! Pan-fried potatoes, thick raisin blinis, rice pudding, thin pancakes filled with jam, potato salad. Oh, I’m getting hungry now.

    • It’s been pretty cold around here too. As long as you keep it inside, all is good! 🙂 Let me know if you try it!

Wow, that is some serious food! I’ve never heard of raisin blinis, and although I know what rice pudding is, I’ve never had that either. Grandmas always make the best food though, don’t they? My grandma introduced me to goulash, turtles, and devils food cookies 😀

    • Yes. The pbj pillows are awesome. I love stuff that looks like food! Haha. I have flannel pink bed sheets imprinted with cupcakes that I just LOVE. These pillows would be an awesome gift for Christmas! 🙂

Let me know if the ice cream turns out good for you! Happy WIAW to you too!

  2. Ok, ice cream, hmmm mint chocolate chip because it is classy, yet spontaneous and unique with the mint. PBJ, I’ve been into putting it on celery with is super good. Or just with a spoon 🙂 I’ve always wanted to try cauliflower mashed potatoes or cauliflower mac & cheese!

    Great questions!

    • Hmm… I don’t know how to respond because I hate chocolate and mint together. Lol. York peppermint patties and Andes mints are like the worst candy creations EVER. No offense. My whole family and practically everyone I know loves them. Just not me 😀 I like your explanation though to go along with the flavor 🙂

I’ve made cauliflower mashed potatoes before and I thought that they were pretty good! I’ve never heard of a mac and cheese version though.

      Thanks for commenting! 🙂

  3. I love that you eat acorn squash for breakfast too. My husband makes fun of me for eating that and sweet potatoes for breakfast sometimes but I can’t help it. Sometimes I’ll just get a craving for one or the other! 🙂

    • That is quite the dilemma you have there. Maybe you should try again! 🙂 What is it that you don’t like about them? My friend from high school doesn’t like a lot of fruit like strawberries and bananas because of the “texture” as she put it. Lol.

      • There’s just something about them that I don’t like – I seriously get sick when my dad makes his banana bread, and he’s FAMOUS for his banana bread!! I think it’s the smell

  4. I have to agree with everybody else–that banana/cranberry ice cream looks AMAZING. I’ve never thought to put those 2 together (well, maybe in overnight oats I have), but they just LOOK like the perfect ice cream pair. I had to steal the survey (due to my lack of attractive WIAW eats this week). My favorite meal for the day was a lentil soup from Oh She Glows.

    • Well, gluten and oats are no-no’s for me. A lot of other grains bother my stomach too. Sometimes I have quinoa flakes, but the only grain that I have on a regular basis is brown rice protein powder.

I feel so much better when I’m grain-free. I’m not really sure the reason behind it, but whatever it is, I’m going with it 🙂

  5. I love Cream of Wheat. Easily one of my favorite breakfasts and I haven’t had it in soo long. That should probably change! 🙂

Also, your raspberry banana ice cream looks delicious!

And I may have to steal this survey from ya! 🙂

    • Agreed 🙂 Oh, and the ice cream is actually with frozen cranberries, but we are definitely on the same wave length– I’ve made it with raspberries too! 🙂

Let me know if you use the survey. I’d love to read your answers!

  6. Yum! All of your meals in this post look so good! Seriously, I would eat them all. I like that you eat all whole ingredient foods!

I tried to think of what my favorite thing was from my WIAW post but couldn’t decide. Bacon, avocado, oatmeal, crackers with cream cheese, rice in vegetable stock with spicy roasted kale, eggs, buttered celery. It was all good.

Foods that remind me of my childhood: steamed broccoli or cauliflower mixed into noodles with home made cheese sauce, corned beef and cabbage and potatoes, taco salad.

    • Thanks for the compliment!

Haha. That’s how I feel when bloggers ask that question. I LOVE everything that I eat! 🙂 That rice in vegetable stock sounds delicious.

All of those childhood foods sound great! I’m always surprised to hear what everyone else grew up eating, because it’s so different for everyone!

  8. I LOVE banana ice cream… my favourite combo is chocolate & banana, but your cranberry version looks so delicious that I’ll have to give it a try. It’s so pretty!
My favourite eat of the day was veggie sushi. So lush! ‘Pizza Friday’ has now become ‘Sushi Friday’ and I feel so much better for it 🙂
    Have a great weekend! xx

    • You’ll love the combo of cranberry and banana. Chocolate and banana is definitely awesome too though.

Interchanging sushi and pizza was a good switch 🙂 Much healthier. And arguably more delicious 🙂

Hope you have an awesome weekend too!
