Marvelous in my Monday #2 (11/19/12)

Hope you all had a great weekend! Only a few more days until Thanksgiving!

In case you missed, them, here are my last two posts: WIAW + Fun Foods Survey and A Little Bit of Everything Awesome.

Last week I missed Marvelous in my Monday, but not this week. I’m ready to link-up! How about you?

Here is my first Marvelous in my Monday.

Marvelous is…

Relay For Life. It was such a moving a worthwhile experience. I am so glad that I participated!

I walked over 6 miles on the indoor track, and boy could my legs and feet tell the next day! Even though I didn’t stay til the end (um… Hello? I go to bed at 12:00 on a late night. I seriously couldn’t have survived until 7:00AM).

Marvelous is…

Our Relay For Life team sign! The theme for our college’s event was “Around the World” and we picked Great Britain for our country. TEAM SHERLOCK.

Marvelous is…

Thanksgiving road trips up to my grandma’s! Any good DVD recommendations for my brother and I to watch?

Marvelous is…

Black Friday Shopping. We usually go in with no plan and just browse around. So much fun!

Marvelous is…

Getting to see my best friends this weekend to watch Breaking Dawn! SO. EXCITED.

And I just have to note- the excitement is more for my friends than seeing this movie. Just so you know.

Marvelous is…

Weekends. I think that is explanation enough.

What is Marvelous about your Monday?

What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Are you going Black Friday shopping?

Any DVD recommendations for a long car ride?

  1. While traveling for fun trips (especially on holidays!!) I’m ALL ABOUT the kiddie cartoons — Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Despicable Me, UP, any Shrek, ohman the list could go on forever. Oh, and depending on how long the trip, HP marathons can be fabulous too!!
Staying up until 7am isn’t that difficult if you’re still feeling fine at 2:30-3am. If you get tired before then, you’re doomed. I think it would be infinitely easier with crowds and running though — hanging out in the lab, the hours tend to drone by pretty slowly.
Thanksgiving has come and gone for us, and I’ve never been Black Friday shopping, but it sounds insane!!
Marvelous about my Monday is that I have the day off, so that weekend wake-up was me today! 😉 Also, cupcakes to celebrate Le Boy’s birthday (it was yesterday) this evening!!
Have a fabulous Monday, my dear!!

    • An HP marathon is definitely in order. We’ll have to either rent or buy the last two movies because I’ve only seen those once! As compared to the first six… Which I’ve seen countless times 🙂

I’ll give you props for staying up late. I went to the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games, and while I managed, I was pretty close to falling asleep during the movie.

Black Friday shopping is pretty insane, but it’s kind of exhilarating. Especially when you get to walk away with a stack of DVDs for only a few dollars apiece!

Hope you have a great day off! And enjoyed those cupcakes 🙂 Happy Monday to you!

  2. I actually hate black friday, probably because I already hate shopping so doing it when it is that crowded is not for me, instead, I usually go for a run, then walk with my mom and dog then spend the day with her doing smaller errands.

  3. I cannot do black friday, unfortunately. I am an online shopper, so I do that mostly. I am jealous that you’re able to handle the crowds and stuff! I’d be so worried about getting into a fight over something. I think the Harry Potter movies are always good for car rides, if you like them!

    • Oh, well at least you have Cyber Monday to look forward to as well!

I was really worried about getting trampled at Black Friday, but so far everyone’s been nice 🙂 And if someone wants something that I have, they can just take it!! No black eyes for me. Haha.

Harry Potter would be awesome. We have at least two copies of all the movies. Except, we don’t have any of the last two… Maybe we can find them on Black Friday! 😛

    • I hope you have a good trip back home and don’t come across too much traffic. Ugh. Traffic. It literally just hit me that I will be exiting campus at the exact same time as about 15,000 other students 😦

      Sleep well on Friday 🙂

  4. Definitely excited for Black Friday! I usually don’t go with too much of a plan either, but I love shopping so it’s fun anyway. Way to go on Relay for Life!! Go ahead and start Christmas movies early with Home Alone and Elf…two of my faves. Have a fun Thanksgiving Day celebration!

    • It really is fun! I know that some shoppers have had some bad experiences, so I guess that we just lucked out with nice people at our store.

Home Alone is a GREAT idea. I think we have the first three on DVD!

  5. Hi, just found your blog! I’m obsessed. This post had me smiling the entire time. I’ve always wanted to do Relay for Life and after your positive experience, I think I’ll just have to sign up next time!

Charlie Brown is absolutely a family tradition in my family. Such a sweet, good movie. 🙂

Just saw Breaking Dawn Part II with my sorority sisters. Haha, going with a great group of friends makes it just that much more fun but the movie itself doesn’t have that much substance. Shockingly. 😉

I’ve never actually participated in Black Friday shopping. Shopping is already not one of my favorite things but doing it with hoards of crazy shoppers? Yeah, no thank you. However, just walking around and browsing and not hard core shopping sounds like something I could do. As long as I was fed beforehand.

    • Well thanks for such a sweet comment! I love long ones 🙂

If you’re obsessed with my blog, I have to check out yours. I’m sure it’s awesome! 🙂

You should totally do Relay for Life; it was a great experience. I agree with the “substance” comment of Breaking Dawn Part II. Part I had me laughing way too much especially considering all of the blood and gore that was on the screen at the time 😀

Shopping is a hot-and-cold thing for me. When I know I’m going to get a great deal, I’m all for it! If I feel like I’m wasting my money or time though, I’m a total grouch. You NEVER want to be with me when I’m shoe shopping. Hate it.

  6. I did Relay for Life one year in college–it really is a great experience. I think I stayed most of the night, but I definitely couldn’t do that now. I love my sleep way too much.
I used to work retail and had to work the morning shift (got there at 4:45 AM) once on Black Friday–never again! 🙂 Of course, I don’t really like shopping in the first place, so naturally I would stay away. More power to you–and have fun!

    • Same here with the sleep! I hope to make it an annual (or at least frequent) thing. Relay for Life really is a great experience.

I know that must have been super stressful for you, but… I’m sure you have tons of awesome stories to tell of the crazy customers 🙂

  7. I worked Black Friday once, but the afternoon shift thankfully! I was cashiering for like 7 hours though and that wasn’t exactly fun ><

  8. Shopping on black friday is something I do not do.. unless it’s online of course. I hate hate lines & a ridiculous amount of people. It actually drives me crazy, and kinda puts me in an aggravated mood haha.

I think it’s time for you to bust out Elf for the car ride 🙂

    • Ugh. That’s true. The lines are the WORST. But, then you have time to think over all of your items, and last year I actually put a few things back because I realized that I didn’t need/want them.

You are the second person to recommend Elf 🙂 If I’m in the mood for Will Ferrel then that will definitely be in the car!

Let me know what you think. Leave a reply!
