What Other People Ate (WIAW)

Well, it’s official guys- I’m moved into my new apartment for the summer! I started my job on Monday and now I’m two days down.

Right now I’m just mentally drained though and it’s kind of hard to put coherent lines of thought together much less actually stay awake past 9:00 PM (I’ve already dosed off twice tonight. Bedtime is just around the corner…).

It has already been far too long since I posted something on here though (four or five days I think? The horror! πŸ˜‰ ).

I figured what could be easier than some good old fashioned link-ups with two of my favorite bloggers? That’s right: another two for one special with Peas and Crayons and Jessie Bear What Will You Wear. A mash-up of WIAW and Together Tuesdays (because it is completely possible for Tuesdays and Wednesdays to occur on the same day in the blog world).

I give to you:

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ATE (and what I not so secretly wish I could be eating right now too):

Kabocha Squash PancakeΒ from Hungry Healthy Girl

Because both Jessies also included it in their Together Tuesdays for this week… and because Kabocha is the bomb.

Sooth Ginger Mango Dream SmoothieΒ from Peachy Palate

Great for digestion and full of fresh seasonal ingredients!

Coconut Chicken NuggetsΒ from Taylor Made it Paleo

Super simple and grain-free, these chicken nuggets would pair great with my homemade ranch dressing as a dip!

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt ButterΒ from The Smart Kitchen

Sea salt and chocolate lovers unite with the nut butter world. Holy moly.

Old Bay Crab CakesΒ from Freckled Nettles

I would beg to guess that even seafood haters would love Brittany’s beginner-friendly crab cake recipe.

Vegan Lemonade Ice CreamΒ from Healthful Pursuit

You’ll never guess the ingredients until you click the recipe.

Like I said… Eyes currently drifting close. Time for me to publish, shut down and hit the hay.

This Friday you can count on a post. Not sure what (hopefully a recipe AND review?). Either way, hope to see in the comment sections across the blog world tomorrow. Happy Wednesday!
Questions for you:

Are you tired right now?
Where is the strangest place that you have fallen asleep?
Any amazing recipe finds to share from this week?

  1. I’m really loving this take on WIAW πŸ™‚ Those coconut chicken nuggets sound amazing, and I wouldn’t mind following ’em up with a big spoonful of that sea salt chocolate nut butter. Holy.wow.

I think the last couple of days are finally catching up to me… I’ve been going to bed super late and probably not getting enough sleep, so I’m definitely feeling it tonight. It’s a quarter to nine and I’m more than ready to hit the hay. Must.keep.eyes.open….

    • Glad you loved my not-so-usual approach to WIAW πŸ™‚ I concur that the sea salt chocolate nut butter would be excellent following those nuggets!

My late(r) nights have caught up with me too and this week I’ve been going to bed at 10:00 every night. I’m pretty sure that’s at least a full two hours earlier than all of my male co-workers… πŸ˜‰

  2. Love this take on WIAW! All these recipes sound incredible, especially the vegan lemonade ice cream. YUM!

  3. I saw almost every one of those recipes in my feed and drooled over them. Those are some pretty darn good links you found. πŸ™‚
I hope your job is going well despite how tired it’s making you!

  4. Glad to hear your are settling into your new apartment! I hope you are enjoying your internship and learning a ton! πŸ™‚ You know I am up for any smoothie recipe!

  5. You definitely shared some great recipes, especially that ginger smoothie! I am not all that tired right now, but sometimes I will occasionally fall asleep on my train ride in or out of work. Have a great Wednesday πŸ™‚

    • I can’t really fall asleep on the way to/from work because I’m the one driving. Lol. But I definitely feel like it somedays and I’d be just like you with a little nap on the train. That’d be nice… Have you ever missed your stop?

    • Thanks Alex!! You’re right, I am super busy. But probably no busier than anyone else who works a full time job! Life is tough πŸ˜€

Your full seafood side has come through with your recent posts from home. Haha.

  6. I love this idea πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing all of these with us. I found a great recipe- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp of PB2 mixed together and pair with apple slices as a dipping sauce πŸ™‚ Super easy and still healthy!

    • So happy you liked the idea Di πŸ™‚

That dip sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing. I used to mix pb and greek yogurt together with a little chocolate-flavored protein powder and froze it to make homemade fro-yo (when I could still have dairy and peanut butter… πŸ™‚ )

  7. Congrats on your new job and new abode — those are some huge changes, so it’s understandable that you’d be wiped out! Hopefully this weekend will bring some much needed R&R, but in the meantime, it’s perfectly acceptable to hit the hay at 8 p.m. πŸ˜‰ (Once I was in the working world for a while, I started seeing my friends post Facebook statuses about the joys of going to sleep at hours that seem totally preposterous to our younger selves. It’s totally vindicating!)

  8. Ok so you just made me want coconut chicken, crab cakes and dark chocolate butter real bad right now! Congrats on getting moved in and starting!! I want to hear how your first week went πŸ™‚

  9. I’d like to have that mango smoothie and that nut butter, please! They look so good. Instead I’m having soup tonight because it’s freaking cold here.
Strangest place I fell asleep was my best friend’s couch. Woke up several hours later. What a night.

    • It was freezing last week too. I had to wear pants and a jacket to and from work a few days. Hope it’s warmed up for you!

That doesn’t sound too strange.. but I’m sure there’s more to the story. Haha.

  10. I THOUGHT that Kabocha pic looked famliar–haha, love that both you and Jessie had it marked. But then again, it’s pancakes…and kabocha…so I can totally see why. And I bet that ice cream is amazing! Cashew-based desserts are sooo good–but man, someone needs to start selling some reasonably priced cashews…

    • Haha. Yep.

I’ve never made a cashew-based dessert like that ice cream before, but my parents are kind of (try a lot!) addicted to raw cashews so I think I need to make this soon… We get organic cashews for a not-to-bad price at Kroger’s!

  11. Great recipes! Ugh why do I torture myself with WIAW posts when I’m hungry?
Anyways, yes I’m so tired right now! I’ve no idea where the strangest place I’ve ever fallen asleep is, but apparently once I was so tired that I feel asleep standing up with my head on the bed. I was 5, and I’m still wondering what kind of day I had! Happy Thursday, have a marvelous day! xx

    • Thankfully I almost always read WIAWs after breakfast or during my lunch break so I’m usually not too hungry. πŸ™‚

That’s hilarious about you falling asleep standing up! Haha. Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

  13. I sure hope you can catch up on your sleep this weekend since Monday is a big day. You’re going to do great, and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
I like the combo of WIAW and TT, especially that nutty butter and the ice cream. I wouldn’t say No to that Mango Dream Smoothie either. It sounds right up my alley. I could even take it in the shower with me. πŸ˜‰

    • Haha. From now on, whenever I think of a smoothie I’m going to just assume that some random person (mainly you πŸ™‚ ) will be taking it to drink in the shower… I’m still not quite sure how you manage that without getting it all watery!

      • We have a little shelf in the shower and more than one shower head so I stick my smoothie on the shelf and I only use the one shower head, which is at my shoulder level pointing down (it goes higher, but I like it shoulder level). From there it’s easy and very convenient. By the way, the Hubby had no idea I did that until he read that post. He was mortified. Good to know I can still surprise the man. Confession indeed.
