It may be hard to realize, but there are foods other than pumpkin to be excited about come Fall. I really do understand the appeal of the orange squash; however I know of at least one blogger out there who is probably getting a little tired of the pumpkin-all-the-time mindset.
Today I’m here to remind you that there are many other awesome Fall foods that can be enjoyed WITHOUT pumpkin.
There are apple recipes…
Apple Pie Granola from Meghan at Clean Eats Fast Feets
Apple Chunk Cinnamon Rolls from Me
Apple Crumb Bars (with Salted Caramel) from Davida at The Healthy Maven
Also delicious cinnamon concoctions…
Cinnamon Vanilla Roasted Chickpeas from Jessie at Jessie Loves to Run
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal from Lori and Michelle at Purely Twins
Cinnamon Roll Bread from Me
And let’s not forget Cranberries, which can be used in more than just Thanksgiving Dinner…
Cranberry “Banana” Ice Cream from Me
Cranberry Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies from Jenna at Je Na Sais Quoi
Cranberry Whole Wheat Muffins from Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean
I hope these recipes have opened all of your pumpkin-blind eyes who have been eating the vegetable like you will never see it again.
Of course I’m kidding… Pumpkin is one of my favorite foods, so don’t misinterpret this post as me bashing pumpkin. I LOVE the stuff.
Sometimes it’s just nice to have, you know, variety!
Thanks Jenn for hosting this party again! Keep the cute chickpea pictures coming 🙂

Questions for you:
Are you all pumpkined out yet?
What is your favorite non-pumpkin Fall food?
Share an apple, cinnamon or cranberry recipe in the comments!
Ah! Thanks for the shout out dear. You are the sweetest. I could eat everything on this page… if only it was editable 😦
No problem lady! 😀 It could be edible if you dared to venture into the kitchen… Lol.
Not pumpkined out yet! By the end of the month I probably will be though haha! Great post as always ❤ ❤
Me either! I’m still incredibly excited about pumpkin… even though I know a few who wish it never existed.
I know those people too… heck I’m blood relatives with some (I wonder what went wrong ;)) I don’t get it 😉 I’m a pumpkin lady allll the way, haha, however… apples, cinnamon, chestnuts, cranberries.. YES! I just LOVE fall! My favorite season!! The only down side is the weather.. it’s starting to freeze at nighttime here 😦
Ha! I only JUST opened my first can of pumpkin yesterday! It just didn’t feel right busting until now…plus, I had a CRAPTON of berries to eat first! Love this little recipe roundup…I actually just pinned your apple chunk cinnamon rolls last night! They look amazing! I’m all about the pumpkin year-round, but I have to say cranberries are one of my favorite fall flavors…can’t wait to start seeing them popping up at the store! Actually reminds me that I need to make some of these pancakes again: http://www.kissmybroccoliblog.com/2012/02/12/cranberry-orange-pancakes-gluten-free/ 😀
We have yet to buy a can of pumpkin yet this year! But is going to happen incredibly soon, and when it does, there will be NO stopping us from pumpkin everything 🙂
Thanks for pinning the apple cinnamon rolls Heather!
ooo… and for sharing those pancakes. Cranberry + orange sounds wonderful.
That apple granola and the cinna-crunch cereal…. I agree I am getting a smidge pumpkin-ed out too. I am waiting for gingerbread haha 🙂
Haha. I actually wasn’t talking about me as my pumpkin affair hasn’t even begun yet! 😉 Gingerbread is super good too, I agree.
Lol, I meant like everywhere, blog wise is pumpkin, got me pumpkin’d out! Sad… because I see so much pumpkin goodness left and right, like donuts >.<
I haven’t cooked pumpkin – ever! This is my year to try I think, although these recipes all look amazing 🙂
You should definitely try out some pumpkin recipes!
I swear off pumpkin then it reappears again in my life. Its a love/hate relationship. Actually, you’ll see why on Friday’s post!
Lazy armans breakfast- microwave an apple with cinnamon, chuck in cottage cheese and throw almond butter on top. And more cinnamon. 😛
I personally think pumpkin could be a year round food in my book (and it is). Looking forward to this Friday’s post then 🙂
Microwaved apples are delicious! And while I am not a fan of cottage cheese, I can say that almond butter + cinnamon would be an amazing topping.
I’m probably the only blogger that literally doesn’t like pumpkin. Unless it’s the seeds then I’m all for it. But cinnamon anything I can definitely get on board with!
I know a few more but I will not out them on here 😉 Pumpkin seeds are good too! See… you do like *something* pumpkin. Haha. And I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like cinnamon. It’s just SO good.
I’m not really THAT big of a pumpkin fan (I love fall, so I like pumpkin… but I also appreciate other fall flavors haha)
Yes! I am all for appreciating ALL of the fall flavors, not just pumpkin.
GASP NOTHING WITH PUMPKIN??? just kidding! Glad you survived 🙂 Thanks for featuring those bars and for reminding me I need to make you cinnamon rolls ASAP.
😀 For a moment I thought you were serious… Haha.
Of course Davida! It was actually a toss up between the bars and your infamous apple chips, but in the end, the salted caramel won me over.
Let me know if you try the cinnamon rolls 🙂
Wait, you mean to tell me there are people out there who don’t glorify pumpkin. We need to go after these folks with pitch forks or something. 😉
I love this post. I love the nod to other and equally as magnificent Fall produce, and I’m thrilled you have a recipe in each category. You are getting quite the repertoire. Very impressive Madison, and thank you for featuring my Apple Pie Granola. You’re the best.
Oh and guess what lucky girl got apples in her most recent CSA share? Yep, that’s right. This girl. 🙂
I tried not to point fingers, but I think we both know who I was referencing with the intro to this post 😉
*whew* I hesitated in posting a recipe in all of the categories for fear of being too bold (or worse, self-indulgent) but then I thought “this is *my* blog after all.”)
I think your apple pie granola may just have to be made for some Christmas presents this year.
Does that mean some more apple recipes will be coming my way via your lovely blog in the future? 😀 Please say it is so!
thanks for the link love!
Happy to! 😀
I actually don’t tolerate pumpkin the best (allergy-wise) and love apples much more, so this round-up is right up my alley! Thanks for sharing!
Same here Lauren! I don’t do well with any winter squash like that, including pumpkin. I’m so glad that you found something you can try though on here 🙂
I’m guilty of the pumpkin obsession, I saw this article yesterday trying to explain to people, however, that ‘pumpkin” does not taste like pumpkin spice. So everyone obsessing over pumpkin probably has no idea that pumpkin itself is relatively tasteless…lol
Wait… Do people think that pumpkin and pumpkin spice actually taste like the same thing? If that’s true, I don’t even know how to respond to that. Do you have the article?
http://www.thekitchn.com/pumpkin-spice-is-not-actually-what-pumpkin-tastes-like-195492
Thanks! I completely agree with the author 😀
Ah this is just what I needed! I’m not pumpkined out yet but I do have an innate resentment for all the delicious pumpkin recipes when it’s so darn hard to get the stuff in the uk! Apple and cinnamon are a year round favourite for me so I won’t choose them… Parsnips! They get neglected but I’m all for parsnips this time of year!
I bet that would be so frustrating! I remember one year when the U.S. had a serious shortage of pumpkin, which is why I think everyone is going crazy over it these days. I actually had to buy this expensive $10 pumpkin bread kit just to get the pumpkin puree can inside because there were none left on the shelves. Haha. I used the pumpkin puree for a separate recipe and just mashed up a whole bunch of bananas to use up the “pumpkin” bread mix.
Parsnips aren’t a super popular food over here I don’t think so that’s probably why. I just saw these parsnip fries though and thought of you: http://www.eatliverun.com/roasted-parsnip-fries-with-lemongrass-ginger-creme-fraiche/ which reminded me of THIS recipe that I saw awhile back: http://empoweredsustenance.com/mashed-parsnips-gaps-paleo/ Link overload!! 😀
I love pumpkin and I don’t think I could ever get tired of it, but I do love apple recipes too. All of these recipes love divine. I am going to have to give them a try ASAP!! Thank you.
I don’t think I could ever get tired of it either 🙂 Certainly let me know if you try any! I just need to pick one or two out to try this weekend… Which will be SO HARD because they all look amazing 🙂
I’ve actually been trying to keep my fall obsessions pretty varied with lots of apple, fig, kabocha, and cinnamon EVERYTHING. I love pumpkin, but we’re still at the beginning of the season and I don’t want to get burnt out because we’ve still got plenty of months to go.
As for a tasty non-pumpkin fall recipe, I’ve been meaning to make some fig and date oatmeal bars again… It’s been about a year and I think my mind (and tastebuds) need some refreshing http://www.runningwithspoons.com/for-spoons/fig-and-date-oatmeal-bars/
You have been doing a great job with the Fall variety 🙂 Good idea for not getting burnt out. That way you can still enjoy pumpkin recipes up until the very last second.
Thanks for the link! I’ve never tried figs in my baking before but I’ve noticed that you’ve included it in a few of yours recently so I’ll have to look for some at my grocery store.
It’s crazy, but I haven’t made anything pumpkin yet! I did just buy local grown apples and I am definitely going to make one of these:)
Haha. Not crazy at all. I think you are probably in the same boat as 95% of the population who aren’t foodies 😉 I love that you support local businesses when buying produce! I try to do that whenever possible but sometimes it’s hard. I’m positive that you would love any of the apple recipes!
I love apples and cinnamon all the time. I’ve never been much of a fan of cranberry though!
I got on a huge cranberry kick last fall… Adding some frozen ones to smoothies, banana ice cream, muffins, protein breads. I even ate them plain but I know most don’t like the tartness. 🙂
Those cinnamon rolls look amazing!
Thanks Kaitlin 😀
This time of year doesn’t mean ‘pumpkin’ for me, but only because I have it ALL though the year. Same with cranberries, I go through a bag a week every week of the year haha! These recipes and links are all awesome I am so glad you compiled them all together! 🙂
Same here. To me, pumpkin isn’t really a seasonal food. It’s always an option.
I LOVE pumpkin, but I actually haven’t gotten that into it yet this year. I made pumpkin muffins in like the summer (little over eager), but right now I’m all about apples (…and kabocha…)
I made some pumpkin things early too but haven’t dug into the recipes yet. Apples and kabocha are good choices Jessie 🙂
All those recipes look delicious; I still need to try out your apple cinnamon rolls:) Though I do enjoy pumpkin-themed recipes, I actually prefer sweet potatoes to pumpkin. I probably have at least 10 times as many sweet potato recipes as pumpkin recipes on my blog, and you can almost always substitute sweet potatoes for pumpkin in smoothies, oatmeal, bread, etc…That cranberry banana “ice cream” also looks delicious; I always enjoy making ice cream from frozen bananas because it is cheap and easy. I hope you have a wonderful day!
Yes you do!
I think sweet potatoes are better than pumpkin too. They are so much sweeter, smoother and I used to love eating the skins.
Banana ice cream really is cheap. I never thought of that side of it before but you’re totally right. Save money AND be healthy 🙂
I am soooo glad you posted this! I love the idea of pumpkin but honestly I usually only bake pumpkin bread a few times. I think of this time of the year to bake all the time, in my mind it is turning into the winter holidays and that’s really when I want to bake! 🙂
Pumpkin bread sounds fantastic right now. Even though you’re not really a food/exercise blog anymore I think you should totally post a few holiday treats if you make them 🙂
I am crazy with my pumpkin lately but I am eating so many apple too 🙂 My favorite is my apple pie oatmeal I am having for breakfast almost every morning lately! So good!
Apple pie oatmeal sounds delicious! And I just love pumpkin + apples together so good pick.
I am all about apples and figs this year. These recipes look delicious!
Thanks Jess! Enjoy.
Awwwhhhh, what a delicious post. ❤
Glad you liked the recipes 🙂
