Spill It: TV Shows

I’m so glad that you are liking my link love posts on Fridays! I would really like to make them a more consistent feature on Eating 4 Balance so that I can share all of the wonderful things that I find every week on the internet. I already have a bunch of funny videos to share for the next edition!

Now, as it’s Sunday, I’m linking up to Arman’s Spill It Sundays. This week’s theme is TV Shows!

Spill It Sundays

Required selfie:

What was your favorite TV series growing up?

Scooby Doo. Hands down. No question about it. From the prequel series called “A Pup Named Scooby Doo” to “Where Are You Scooby Doo?” to the movie spin-offs there isn’t one version that I’ve seen and not liked. Really, it’s not possible.

Scooby Doo

What is your current favorite TV series?

Arrow. I finally caught up with all of the episodes last night on Hulu and the CW. As of right now one of the minor (probably soon to be major) characters, Roy, just got injected with some funky stuff and is now supernaturally strong. And someone is walking around terrorizing the town in a scarecrow-like mask. What’s not to love?

In all things serious though, my favorite part is the back and forth flashbacks that show what Oliver’s life was like when he was stranded on the island. Often during a tv series you may wonder why a character is the way he is, and with these flashbacks you get just that. Maybe I’m just a nosey tv watcher, but I always want ALL of the details. I don’t like to be left hanging for long.

If you could guest star in ANY TV show, which would it be?

How long would this guest appearance be lasting? If it was just for one episode I would probably want to be in Rookie Blue, Bones, House, or a similar medical/police drama where I’m the featured case (and get the most air time πŸ˜‰ ). If it was for a longer character arc… maybe Sherlock? I’m not very good at a British accent, but I would love to work with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman!

What genre of Β television do you enjoy the most?Β (Reality, Action, Drama, Comedy)

I’m not really picky on what kind of television I watch. It just has to be good. For example, some reality tv series like American Idol, The Voice, or Wipeout are not so ridiculous that I can’t sit down and enjoy an episode occasionally when they’re on. I like comedies too, but they can’t have characters who are super embarrassing. Take The Office- that show is hilarious; however, watching Michael make a fool of himself made me want to curl up in a corner and die.

I guess I like a combination of action and drama. I’m all for cop shows, medical shows, superhero shows, lawyer shows, etc. Throw in some supernatural features and that’s even better (think- Star Trek, Buffy, Heroes, Continuum, ).

Scifi Shows

Which TV series do you think should NOT have been renewed after its first season yet had?

Any of those adult cartoons. I’m sorry (not really) but The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park are not something that I ever or will ever like to watch. Also, certain reality shows like Jersey Shore, The Hills, The Kardashians, Jon and Kate Plus Eight… Really, any show that ruined the lives of its stars. I like people. I don’t like people being exploited (or exploiting others).

Reality TV ecard

Which TV series do you think deserved to be renewed yet was not?Β

Lizzie McGuire? Phil of the Future? (I need to know what happened! Did Lizzie and Gordo stay together? What is Miranda doing now? Does Phil ever come back from the future?! This is important stuff people).

Aside from these childhood shows that ended way too soon and resulted in life long trust issues, some more recent shows that shouldn’t have been cancelled are Leverage, Surface, Heroes, Tru Calling, Dollhouse, Dead Like Me, Eureka, Life Unexpected, Kyle XY, Freaks and Geeks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It’s not necessarily that I felt like all of those shows should have been renewed (okay, maybe it is), but I just didn’t appreciate the endings. They were either cliff hangers, or so unrealistic that I felt like they were thrown together in a hurry and totally ruined all that was good about the series.

Disney Shows

What is your favorite TV show theme song? (This one I added myself)

Do you mean other than Scooby Doo‘s? (Isn’t it just so… catchy? πŸ™‚ )

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air springs to mind, as does The Big Bang Theory, Batman (POW!)), Wildfire,Β MASH, Buffy, Cheers, Rugrats, Pokemon/Digimon, Step by Step, Phineas and Ferb,Β Boy Meets World, The Addam’s Family (tell me you didn’t *snap* just upon hearing that name!), and I saved the best for last- The Greatest American Hero. You really need to listen to all of these, because they are all amazing songs and soon will be stuck in your head all day.

If you are currently undergoing some snow storms and sub-zero weather, stay safe my friends! And for everyone else,Β enjoy the rest of your weekend. I’ll see you on Monday (hopefully) with a giveaway πŸ™‚

  1. Haha when I read Scooby Doo I had no choice but to sing the theme song. It was so catchy and everyone knew it! πŸ™‚
I haven’t gotten into Arrow yet, but I heard it was good. I think I may catch up on that now that I have more free time!
Sherlock is such an interesting show. I literally stay glued to the couch the entire episode. It’s so intriguing!
I’m with ya on the adult cartoons. Yes, sometimes they can be funny, but most of the time it seems like they’re trying too hard.
All older Disney shows need to come back. They were the best. Cliff hangers bug me so much!

I hope you have an amazing day. πŸ˜€

    P.S. You’re really gorgeous! πŸ™‚

    • Definitely start from the beginning with Arrow! The first season is my favorite πŸ™‚

Today if I have enough time after class, I am going to see if I can find somewhere online to watch the episode of Sherlock that I missed last night!

Aw, thanks Natalie. Right back at ya! πŸ˜‰

  2. Okay, so I realized I like sci-fi shows. I miss Xena, but it’s on Netflix now!

It’s terrible but my favorite or most memorable theme song is Dawson’s Creek. It’s very Nicholas Sparks and very North Carolina…

    • I always knew I liked sci-fi, but I never realized HOW much until I started listing them out. Haha. And I’ve heard of Xena, but never watched it before. If it’s on Netflix I’ll have to give it a try.

I’ve only seen a few episodes of Dawson’s Creek but I remember the theme song being good for that one too! ❀ Nicholas Sparks.

  3. Oh my gosh, I used to love Lizzie McGuire and Phil Of The Future, and definitely need some answers.
You’re last question is awesome, why didn’t I think of that? πŸ˜‰ The Phineas and Ferb theme song is probably the only theme song I know in full. Despite the ridiculousness of the songs, they’re just so catchy.
Haha, medical/police dramas are great and the featured cases certainly get the most screen time. And I keep hearing rave reviews about Sherlock but have yet to watch any episodes, I take it that you recommend watching it?

    • When the last episode of Phil of the Future aired, I didn’t know it was going to be the VERY last one… So I was expecting another season to come. 😦

I memorized The Big Bang Theory theme song by looking up the lyrics online and singing along during one of our *let’s watch two seasons in a weekend parties* Haha.

Sherlock is long, like 1.5-2 hours per episode, with 3 episodes a season. So if you like short 30 minute episodes I wouldn’t suggest it. But to me they are like movies! And I really like Sherlock Holmes all around, so yes, I’d definitely recommend it.

  4. I’m watching Arrow now as well, I absolutely love it! Another show that I love is Chicago Fire/Chicago PD.
We are also getting sub zero weather..actually a majority of schools are closed on Monday because of it!

    • Yay! Another person to talk about Arrow with πŸ™‚ I watched the first episode of Chicago PD and really liked it, but haven’t had a chance to watch it since.

Are you closed for weather? If so, I am very jealous πŸ˜‰ My mom and brother are off of school for like the gazillionth time this year.

      • I’m obsessed with arrow, the most recent one is so incredible. Also keep watching Chicago PD, it gets even better!

And yes, both my siblings and I are off of school because of the weather. I swear they have had more days off because of the the cold than I had my entire school career! Luckily I can work remote for work so I am still busy with that πŸ™‚

  5. Okay step back….Lizzie and Gordo DATED?????? I thought her random annoying friend liked Gordo? Please explain!

Arrow is being advertised on TV all the time here for February- It’s being advertised as the ‘sexiest drama of the year’. lol.

Today is supposed to be 26 I think!

    • Have you seen The Lizzie McGuire Movie? If not, you need to watch it PRONTO.

Um… I wouldn’t call Arrow the sexiest drama of the year, although I do love it. Haha. I bet that annoys you to no end since you hate it. πŸ™‚

      26 C? That’s like, what, 80 in F? I bet you aren’t wearing a winter coat or annoying boots…

    • Once when I was younger I went through a season of the Bachelorette in a day because it was a marathon. And then I watched all 3 episodes of Trista and Ryan’s wedding the same day. Haha. At least they’re still married! (Although I haven’t watched it since).

I’ve never heard of Millionaire Matchmaker!

  6. I have a confession: I love Keeping up with the Kardashians….and Family Guy. Can we still be friends? Though in fairness they’re my ‘brainless-no-thinking-required’ programmes. I do love Buffy though. And Heroes.
I have such a long list of programmes I love…Fringe, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, Homeland, 24….
The weather is fairly chilly in the UK, little bit of rain, quite overcast. Hehe πŸ˜‰

    • You’re making it tougher by the day… But I forgive you. Hey, we all have our vices? Mine happens to be terrible vampire tv shows.

I watched the first few seasons of Fringe, Grey’s Anatomy, and 24 but never finished them. I really want to watch Game of Thrones though. Getting through the first book now!

  7. Just FYI the Scooby Doo theme song is now on repeat in my head πŸ™‚

I think it would be awesome to have a guest appearance on Bones…. as long as I wasn’t the icky dead body!

Maybe I’ll pick up Arrow as my next TV addiction, it’s that or Supernatural.

    • Excellent. πŸ˜€

Good point. Maybe I should have specified that I was one of the ALIVE guest stars!

Supernatural would be a good one too, and there are a lot more episodes to dive into. One of my friends from high school is obsessed with that show. If you pick Arrow, let me know what you think πŸ™‚
