Food for the… #3

I had big plans for today’s post. I was going to pour out my heart and sole to you guys. Share my deepest darkest secrets.

fff-3-secret

Okay, not really, but I seriously did have plans for a greater ratio of words to links. However, my friend and I spent the last hour and a half looking at apartments online and e-mailing prospective landlords. Do you know how hard it is to find furnished, cat-friendly, two bedroom apartments?

Let me rephrase that. Do you know how hard it is to find furnished, cat-friendly, two bedroom apartments that don’t cost a lot AND don’t look like they haven’t been updated since the 60’s? Incredibly hard I’ll tell you.

We did manage to find a few that didn’t sound too bad and fit my roommate’s price constraints. To me the money isn’t that big of an issue since whatever we choose will be cheaper than staying in our dorm. Would you like to guess how much it costs per month to stay in a dorm at my college? $770. And that doesn’t even include a kitchen or a decent parking space! It makes the apartments that we’re looking at with $400 a month look like a steal. We’re aiming for in the high 200s to low 300s though per person, which while that seems difficult, is totally feasible.

fff-3-money

But that’s probably more than you would have liked to hear about my “oh look I’m pretending to be an adult” rants about finding a cheap apartment. Shoot, most of you own HOUSES! My argument pales in comparison I’m sure.

So let’s move on to my Friday link-love of all of the posts/pictures/videos that I found interesting throughout the week. As per tradition I have divided them into four separate categories. MIND (posts to get you thinking!), BELLY (recipes to get you hungry), EYES (videos or pictures to make you laugh/cry/contemplate the meaning of your existence), and SOUL (articles that speak to the heart) . This week I have decided to add a fifth category: BODY, which, as the name hints at, will be a collection of exercise articles and workouts.

Questions for you:

What is your weekly Food for the… Mind, Belly, Eyes, and Soul?

What are you thoughts on some of these articles? Some are just for fun, but a lot this week are kind of deep. They left me with a lot to think about, both good and bad.

What are your plans for the weekend?

What I Really Think When Reading Inspirational Quotes

I was just in the process of reading those fun blog surveys that you know I love so much when I came across one of the questions about “What is your favorite quote?” Usually I just soak up the inspiration and move on. This time though I paused to really consider what the quote was saying.

And then I laughed.

That’s probably not what you were expecting to hear from me, right? From my title you were most likely anticipating something a lot more serious?

Today’s post is far from serious though. We all need to laugh once in awhile (hopefully every day) and I hope that at least one of these inspirational quotes causes at least a little giggle to escape that Friday, bleary-eyed face that I’m confident 99.99% of you are currently are wearing.

Disclaimer: In no way am I trying to negate the positive effects that inspirational quotes can have on a person or make fun of those who post them frequently. I have used them often to cheer me up on a dreary day, probably even some of these quotes specifically. These are just random ones that I found on the internet and I jotted down the first thought that I had in my mind. As you can tell from the comments, my brain has quite the sarcastic tendencies.

What I Really Think When Reading Inspirational Quotes

????????????????????????????????????????????????

My momma told me to never lie.

———————————————————————

quote-moving-bike

Unless your bike chain falls off. If you try to keep on moving then you would probably end up with a few scraped body limbs.

——————————————————————–

quote-opportunity-door

I think this one should say “If opportunity knocks, build a building, build a door frame…” Then you can insert the door.

———————————————————————

quotes-moon-stars

False. The nearest star is over 4 light years away. If you miss the moon you would probably hit another planet/asteroid before reaching the stars. Oh, and you’d run out of oxygen first…

———————————————————————

quote-stronger-think

Really? Tell that to my hands that think they can carry plastic grocery bags for over a mile. I’m pretty sure I’m NOT as strong as I think.

———————————————————————

quote-strong-rain

Actually, at any given point it’s always raining somewhere on Earth. Unless we are talking about the Moon where it never rains, but I don’t think that’s where the writer was going with this one.

———————————————————————

quote-end-day

I guarantee that there’s another question that I’ll ask myself at the end of the day… “What did I have for breakfast this morning?”

———————————————————————

Questions for FRIDAY:

What do you think of inspirational quotes?

Do you ever laugh when you read them?

Have you smiled yet today? 🙂

How I Feel About What I Ate Wednesday

When it’s finally time for What I Ate Wednesday I feel like…

wiaw-feel-dancing

Then I sit down to write my post…

wiaw-feel-sit-down

And I rack my brain for a creative spin…

wiaw-feel-thinking

When nothing comes I just start writing…

wiaw-feel-typing

Pretty soon I’m done and it’s time to add pictures…

wiaw-feel-sad

Then I realize I must edit said pictures…

wiaw-feel-sad-2

Finally I put in all of the pictures and hit publish…

wiaw-feel-success

And the next morning I get up early to try and add my post to Jenn’s link-up first…

wiaw-feel-early

Somehow I always fail…

wiaw-feel-lose

And at least twenty other on-the-ball bloggers refresh just at the right time before me…

wiaw-feel-running

Finally I add my link and contemplate which picture to use…

wiaw-feel-headache-2

They are all so marvelous/terrible that it’s hard to pick…

wiaw-feel-headache

Either way, I’m always self-conscious of the one I chose…

wiaw-feel-paranoid-2

Soon I start reading the other WIAWs by clicking on the best-looking food photos…

wiaw-feel-thumbs-up

If I haven’t eaten breakfast yet I’m like…

wiaw-feel-fridge

If I have eaten breakfast I’m like…

wiaw-feel-food

Then I have to go to work/school and must wait for the next time I can go on the computer to read more…

wiaw-feel-waiting

Finally it’s time…

wiaw-feel-time

And there are at least 100 more link-ups than the last time I checked…

wiaw-feel-big-eyes

Grabbing my supper I buckle down for a few minutes hours and make a nice-sized dent in the page of blogs…

wiaw-feel-popcorn

When reading the WIAW posts I think to myself…

wiaw-feel-awe

Then I go back to my own post and look it over…

wiaw-feel-embarassed

And promise to do a better job next week…

wiaw-feel-promise

Then Thursday comes…

wiaw-feel-fair

And I can’t believe that Wednesday has gone by so fast once again.
