Accent Vlog

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all of your amazing comments on my WIAW and Pumped for Pumpkin posts. I really appreciate them, which is why I try to take the time to respond to everyone! If I ever miss your comment, or it goes MIA, LET ME KNOW. WordPress doesn’t always do the greatest job with notifications, and sometimes perfectly harmless comments get sent to spam. None of you deserve to be in spam.

For today’s post I decided to do a vlog. If you guys don’t want to watch it, I totally will understand! I used to hate watching videos that bloggers made. I don’t know when, but somewhere along the line I changed my mind and now I love them! It is so neat to hear how everyone talks and reacts to things. You can’t really get to know someone all that well from just reading what they write.

Appropriately enough, my first video on Eating 4 Balance is going to be an Accent Vlog. Enjoy!

Things I noticed about my self when re-watching this vlog:

  1. I look away from the camera a lot. Plus, isn’t the part where I am frozen in the begging just SOOOO… flattering?
  2. “Like” is used in my vocabulary more than any other word.
  3. I ramble and get off track very easily. Seriously, frozen waffles? (<<<<For those of you who didn’t watch this video, now you realize that you are missing out on some quality stuff.)
  4. Laughing at your own jokes is totally not acceptable. It just makes you look bad.

And now, I challenge all of YOU to make a vlog. It doesn’t have to be long. Caitlin from HTP’s vlog was only 2:13. Seriously. How did she do that?

Here is the list of words:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And the list of questions:

1. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
2. What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
3. What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
4. What do you call gym shoes?
5. What do you say to address a group of people?
6. What do you call the kind of spider (or spider-like creature) that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
7. What do you call your grandparents?
8. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
9. What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
10. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

*Note: Make sure to include where you are from home as well.

Now….. go make some videos!

Also, don’t forget to be doing your planks! I did a 50 second plank yesterday for Tina’s  challenge at Carrots N’ Cake!

Have you ever done the Accent Vlog? If not, make one right now and leave a link in the comments section! I am tagging all of y’all!

What words did I say weird? Do I sound like what you expected? Be honest and brutal. I can take it.

What words do you say funny?

EDITED TO ASK: Do you like watching vlogs? Why or why not?

    • Thanks. It was way simpler than I thought to make a vlog! I always thought, “Ooo!! So professional!” But now that I know that it’s easy, I may have to do another. Depends on how people like it.

This is how I made my vlog: Use webcam on laptop to record video. Save someplace that you can remember. Use youtube or photobucket to upload. Get the “embedded” version. Paste in blog…. Voila! Took me literally five minutes! I think if you don’t have a webcam that you can use the video camera on your cellphone too.

I hope you get the chance to try it!

  1. You are adorable!! What a fun blog post idea. I’m not a big fan of my voice, so I’m still kinda up in the air about doing this challenge..

I think your mom says syrup right.. so girl, it’s you! haha kidding 🙂

    • Haha. Thanks! I always think I sound so weird when I hear my own voice. I don’t know, like I’m stuck up or something 😀 And ya, I had a feeling that “syrup” would be a trigger word. You should totally do a vlog! You don’t have to ramble like me, so it would only take about 2 or 3 minutes 🙂

    • I’m 18. Why, how old do I sound? 😀 And yes, it would be totally cool to actually hear your voice! Haha. Whenever I talk to anyone online I automatically give them an “American” accent, which I know isn’t right, but I just can’t help it!! There aren’t that many people who live around me with different accents. I hope you decide to do the video!! 🙂

  2. Great vlog! You have a really nice voice! I love watching those accent vlogs. Most words are pronounced totally differently from what I expected. I’m way too shy to post a video of myself. Plus, I’m German, so my ‘accent’ would sound quite weird. A little like Gov. Arnie. No, just kidding! 😉

  3. This is a really cute idea.

I really want to do it because I’m from the UK. So I will sound really different.

    You say caramel oddly.

    • Thank you. That will be really neat to hear how you pronounce some of the words coming from the UK,and I bet your answers to the questions especially will be way different than mine. My dad says caramel differently than me, so I bet you two say it the same 🙂

  4. This actually looks like a ton of fun! I’m not “camera ready” today haha, relaxing in pj’s prepping for the hurricane! So I don’t know if I’ll get to it, but I love the idea. Super fun to see how different people around the country say things!

  5. I’m always bummed when I see vlogs ’cause I can’t see them when I’m blogging at work ;D Otherwise I agree, you get to know bloggers on a whole different level–it’s always surprising to see/hear someone you usually only read!

    • That’s how I feel when I’m on my cellphone, or in the library! People would look at me very strangely if they heard a video of some girl reading off a list of words…Especially one babbling on about frozen waffles and bagels. Oh, wait. You haven’t watched the video yet. Haha. Just you wait. I babble like a rambling idiot 😀 You’ll have to comment again after you watch it!

And ya, after watching vlogs, I am [almost] one-hundred percent certain that said blogger is not a robot 🙂 Hey?! It could happen!

  6. Oh, wow. I love hearing bloggers voices. I think I’ll make one, not sure if I’ll upload it. I love your accent though. I will sound so weird in comparison!
