If you’ve been stalking my comments lately on other blogs (which, would totally be creepy, but kind of cool in a #fangirl type of way…) then you’d know that I have been saying for weeks that I need to make some soup. After all, it’s been in the cold 30’s for awhile now, which I think that also means that this post is way overdue.
Below is a collection of 6 delicious-looking soup recipes that I’ve happened across on the blog world. They are all super simple.
1 has beef.
2 feature butternut squash.
3 contain apples.
4 are vegan.
5 use no sweeteners.
And 6 are egg-free, grain-free, nut-free, tomato-free and bean-free!

I also want to share three things that I’ve been loving lately:
1. Book
Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa has always felt powerless, useless. Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king who needs her to be the chosen one, not a failure of a princess. And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies, seething with dark magic, are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could save his people. And he looks at her in a way no man has ever looked at her before. Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.
Most of the chosen do.
I just finished this amazing book at about midnight last night. The Girl of Fire and Thorns is considered fantasy by most, but it was very mild. The coolest part of the book was how the author addressed body image and self-worth in a fantasy/long-time-ago context. Body image wasn’t the main plot of the story, but more of an underlying theme, which I thought was very profound and moving.
2. Movie
Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight’s emergence as a force for good in Gotham.
I’ve already seen this movie about a dozen times or more, but a group of my friends always get together every Wednesday to watch some type of Batman-esque show. We’ve watched part of the animated series, and all of the old batman movies. This past Wednesday we made it up to the most modern trilogy with Christian Bale. It’s so neat to see how everything has changed! He’s no George Clooney, but I adore this movie all the same.
3. TV Show
Six students at Kirin Art High School work to achieve their dreams of becoming stars in the Korean music industry. During the drama, the students learn how to develop their singing, songwriting and dancing skills while also undergoing personal growth. Each one of the students have their own strength and their own weaknesses, but with the support and guidance of each other, they strive to debut on stage.
This TV show was a recent find on Netflix, and in just the past week I’ve managed to make it through 7 hour-long episodes. It does have subtitles, because the main characters don’t speak English, and while I normally hate subtitles, there is just something about this show that makes me want to keep on watching. It’s somewhat cheesy, but the emotions of the actors and actresses are much deeper than I first expected. There are two seasons, but they have different main characters. I don’t think anything can beat Season One.

I know I said in my last post that I was going to talk more about how I’ve been feeling lately, and some dietary changes that I want to make, but that’s just too depressing for this beautiful Friday. The post will come eventually, when I’m ready, but for now I just want to enjoy the holiday season, free from worry!

Have you made soup yet this year?
What have you been reading/watching lately?
Name the first thing that you are going to do when the weekend starts.
Thanks for those soup recipes!! I’m always looking for more and that meatball soup looks right up my alley 🙂 And that book is now on my kindle wish list…to be purchased as a treat to myself when I finish Christmas shopping 🙂
Now I just have to pick one to try first. I think the meatball soup is my favorite idea on here!
I hope you like it. I read it in about a week, which is longer than it normally takes me, but with school and the length, not too shabby.
I love soup but I just buy the premade stuff and heat it back up. I actually like the grain free soup though, it looks good. I think I might be overzealous and try it.
Before I make any of these recipes, I have to make some vegetable stock first. All the store-bought kinds contain celery, tomato, sugar, or wheat. GRR…. So homemade it is! The chicken soup caught my eye too because it’s been so long because I can’t have noodles. Let me know if you try it before me!!
These all look fantastic – thank you for including mine. 🙂
I want to try that kale and yam soup next!
Of course. I just love butternut squash soup and I think pairing it with apple sounds fantastic!
I know, right? I’ve never had kale in soup, but it sounds delicious.
all those soups look freaking amazing!!!
🙂
Thank you for sharing my meatball soup!
Of course! I’m starting to look into doing GAPS and your site was one of the first I stumbled across. The meatball soup looks so good!
I make a lot of soup. Thanks for sharing these recipes!
PS—I nominated you for a Liebster award : )

I’m jealous that you have the patience to make them. Haha. Maybe some will rub off on me so that I can make a few of these this weekend.
And WOW! Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!!!
Every few weeks I make a giant pot of something good put it in the freezer—total life-saver!
Ohhh all those recipes look fabulous! Definitely checking them out. Thanks for posting about them!
Sure thing. I love rounding up recipes because they help me remember things I want to make as well. Haha.
That’s so weird, I was totally craving soup all day and then I come home to see this post. You’re reading my mind!
That is weird. We’re on the same wavelength! Let me know if you try and like (or don’t like) one of the recipes. That way I won’t waste my time with a dud 😀
These are great! I’m making gluten-free clam chowder tonight for the first time! If it works out, I’ll post the recipe soon!
I’ve actually never had clam chowder before, but my dad and brother love it with saltines. Sounds awesome!
You read my mind!! I’ve been thinking of looking for some good soup recipes — let’s just say that the search has ended before it even began!! 😉 The three squash soups are totally on my list to try.
And the high school in that TV show sounds like the Korean version of my high school. #truth.
Sadly I didn’t get to make any of them because I didn’t have time to make a homemade vegetable broth. I just wish that there was a store-bought brand without celery! The squash soups are on the top of my list though too.
Really? That sounds so cool! I just finished the last episode over the weekend and I’m officially sad. It turned out to be one of my favorite shows of all time.
I actually haven’t made soup yet this winter, but after seeing all these delicious recipes you posted, I’m thinking it’ll happen to change… like quickly 🙂
Definitely try one out and tell me if you like it! Still deciding which one to make first, but I’m leaning towards the meatball soup for its ease and substitution capabilities.

So I just realized I never thanked you for the shout out and the link. Where are my manners….probably in the toilet along with my potty mouth.
Anyway, Thank you so much; I really appreciate.
Ps I love the Batman movies too…always have, and I just rewatched the one with Heath Ledger last weekend.
And I just realized that I never responded to this comment! 😀
Heath Ledger is one of the greatest villains ever!
